What's New

March and April.....very busy for GCE!

Amidst trials and attacks the ministry goes on! The Lord sent five Short Term Mission teams
in a row to Guatemala GCE/CHE!.

First, the team from Calvary Church, Muscatine Iowa who have been almost uninterruptedly coming since 1999, came with 25 people March 8-16. 5 pairs of them were parent/child! The local CHEs and Trainers at the CHE villages of Los Alonzo and Buena Vista received a strong thrust as both church facility projects were advanced with the labor and materials shared. Then all the patients treated during the dental and medical clinic who were witnessed to re-enforcing the on-going evangelism by the CHEs. The children ministered to at the school and village would not want to let the team go back home! Blessed growing partnership!

Then the AMSA  Team from Baylor University, Texas with Dr. Matt Porter helped us during the 5 medical/dental clinic days. Each and all the pre-med students were also able to shadow the local physicians Fredy and Hugo and Dentist Jose too. Again, the village's children almost did not let the team go back home. The local CHE Committe and CHEs have kept following up to the patients who were open to the witnessing. Blessed week March 9-17!
Above, a handful of pre-med students and mentors.

Besides the medical and dental clinic at the Quiche CHE Village of Quilin-Novillo on the Cuchumatanes Range of Mountains, 30 pastors and church leaders from several villages and 44 youth leaders were very much enriched and equipped in the Word of God by the Seminars shared by senior Pastor James Ruiz and Pastor James youth pastor from Living Word Chapel, Oracle AZ, on March 14-20. Among the many patients seen and prayed for there came local pastor Mauricio who is now with the Lord as he went home only over a week ago due to Cystic Pulmonary Fibrosis. But the Church and CHEs go on!
********************************************************
Bay Pres Church from Ohio visited the village of Chirramos on March 16 on a scouting trip to see first hand the impact of CHE on the village. Both visitors and hosts were so blessed that BPC is been guided to enrich their already existing partnership with GCE.
********************************************************
The church facility at CHE village of Chirramos is already completed with access to the future second floor. The construction STM team from Mission Community Church Gilbert AZ again worked shoulder to shoulder with the local CHEs on March 24-31.
The impact was even greater when the men's team served pizza meal to 60 locals and seconds went to the children and women, unusual for this context where women are treated as second class beings. What would have Jesus do?
The CHE villagers heard that David, team leader, saw his birthday there. The pinata party was enjoyed by children and adults as well. More manifestations of God's love!.
*************************************************************
GCE´s multipurpose office in Xela can be converted into a carpenter´s shop in a blink of eyes. Our missionary friend Duane Diener donated his time coming to build 2 more wooden portable cabinets for our mobile clinics pharmacy. Jr assisted Duane and now we can carry more organized meds with us to reach more people for the Lord Our Healer.

......grateful to Duane and his wife Kelly for their unconditional help!.

On Monday March 25-26, Hugo had the privilege to preach 3 times in 24 hours at the CHE village of El Suj (Cuchumatanes Mountains) on occasion of the dedication of the new church kitchen which fed more than 800 people from several villages around.

El Salvador:
The two sewing machines donated by Camino Community Church California have come to
equip the many CHE Women waiting to continue training for more micro-enterprise options around the villages in the District of Quezaltepeque. Here our CHE Woman trainers team happily show the new tools.

Nicaragua:From April  5 through 20, Hugo and Miriam drove to and from Nicaragua. They joined there pastor Linda Rinzel from Mission Community Church Gilbert AZ. With our Region's CHE Woman Resource Facilitator Darling Lopez plus Roger Pavon, Area Coordinator and Nicaragua FIEMCA CHE teams, they all went around the Island of Ometepe, Boaco, Chinandega and Managua. A total of 312 women were trained on Prevention and Restoration to Victims of Abuse, Rape and Domestic Violence plus crafts for micro-enterprising to help in their families income.
Darling reports testimonies like these ones were the immediate results:
"I was abused at age 6. One of my uncles abused me. My mother knew about it--I thought-- and I hated her to the point of wishing her death since she did nothing to defend me. She always hurt me and never expressed love to me. It was until God brought me to him that I became able to understand my mother´s behavior. Now that God allowed  pastor Linda to come here I became able to understand the most difficult "I had never forgiven my mother and she never knew what had happened to me". God opened my understanding and made me forgive my mother and myself and gave me the restoration I needed. Thanks to God for the testimonies as the one from pastor Linda whom the Lord has made bold and courageous to share those."
Jaquelyn Cajina, gave us permission to share her testimony too. Jaqueline is a CHE volunteer in El Congo on the Ometepe Island. She said: "I have been abused by my husband for more than three years. After the seminar with Pastor Linda I decided to believe that God does not want me to be submitted to abuse, I talked to my husband and told him that God does not want more abuse in our home. If he does not change I will report him before the authorities" She prayed to receive Jesus and began attending the local church. Glory to God.
......Miriam proudly showing her pupils progress!....
......small groups discussing the Scriptures during Linda's lesson.....
....Integration can not be missing, a lady reviewing the Scriptural notes while the rest work their crafts to completion.

Linda Rinzel , Miriam and Hugo were blessed to be at the CHE village of El Limonal Chinandega when the first truck loads of construction materials were delivered to the site
to begin the building of the very first house from the partnership of 1Mission Arizona & CHE FIEMCA/GCE. This housing project has begun to bless Fatima and her family as she has over exceed -- by the scores-- the minimum 200 hours of community volunteer service as CHE Woman master trainer with Darling plus the CHE FIEMCA team & GCE.
Fatima, second in row, and her fellow CHEs as always working hard!.
A prayer dream coming true!  Praise the Lord with us all and pray that there will be many more new dignifying homes as the Lord will provide.

Mexico:
Jacob Sotelo, Mexico Area Coordinator, from his base at the Tarahumara Hospital (partners Mexico Medical Mission MMM), with wife Rachel went back to Tecate on April  and taught  Urban TOT1 to this group of new CHE Trainers upon invitation of Rancho La Paloma. This multiplication of CHE servants along the border MEX/USA may be instruments for wholistic Transformation as we all pray for them and God will allow us to follow up.
************************************************************************

Earthquake follow up!
At the village of Las Barrancas (Guatemala) the people who received help from you all in prayer and gifts for materials to rebuild share their progress.
This young family (above) only requested help for new tin roofing!
This other couple only asked for a tin box!
But those who lost all, received materials to begin all the way again! Praises to the Lord and our gratitude to you all on their behalf.

In GCE We can truly express like the Apostle Paul:
Philippians 4:

May we ask you to go to the prayer tab now?

Your fellow servants
GCE Board of Directors,
CHE Mesoamerica Region staff,

The Life and Times of Jose Pio

In 1988 as the civil war in Guatemala raged on, it was reported that 83% of the victims of the brutal war were Mayan Indians. But the war and the fear it caused didn’t stop 3 young men, on brand new bicycles, who were compelled by the good news of Jesus Christ and the hope of CHE from riding the back roads from village to village. They were spreading the message they knew would save the lost and help the poor.  Jose Pio who (goes by Pio) and his friends Florentine and Santiagowere these young men.

Florentine, Pio and Santiago

It was in December 1979; Pio was brought to a hospital in the city suffering from a bacterial infection in the bone of his foot and was told it needed to be amputated.  While in that hospital God arranged for him to meet a preacher who talked to him about Christ.  Not only was he told of the redeeming work of the cross and that Christ could heal him spiritually and possibly physically.  It was that day that Pio came to know the Lord!

On Saturdays  Pio and his neighbor Santiago would listen to a radio program that Dr. Hugo Gomez had on Community Health.  In 1987 Pio met Dr. Gomez and learned about improved cooking stoves, the health benefits of getting the smoke out of their houses, and the CHE training program.  He then began working with Dr. Gomez and has been with the CHE program ever since -  serving many people in many different villages.

Pio’s cousin Guiermo, who was working at a Presbyterian Church, stopped by his house to speak more with him about Christ.  He then asked Pio if he would hold a service in his house and if Pio could speak to his group about the culture and health needs of his village.  Pio’s life as an ambassador for Christ and a representative for CHE was off and running.

Pio, who is from the village of Las Barrancas, is the second longest serving CHE.   Florentine, has served the longest.  Pio’s first wife died from a cerebral aneurism. His second wife left him after bearing two sons and after his spiritual conversion. He has a total of two daughters and five sons, one of which passed away not long ago.  He also has 12 grandchildren.  He makes a living as a farmer where he grows potatoes and other vegetables.  He also receives a small monthly stipend from Global CHE Enterprises.

Even though he seems to be quiet you can always tell that Pio is thinking through the problems that he faces overseeing the development of the CHE property that will one day be used as a training center for CHE in Meso America. His passion ultimately is working with impoverished villages of Guatemala and helping them improve their village lives while trusting in the cross of Christ.

Pio Today

Pio is a valuable servant of Jesus Christ and the CHE program.  If you would like to help him and the other CHE’s your donations will be put to work spreading the same message that has changed Jose Poi’s life forever.

CHE Women's Sewing Project in Guatemala

In 2011 Global CHE Enterprises and Mission Community Church in Gilbert, Arizona began a partnership focusing on the villages of Chicoz and Chirammos in the mountains of Western Guatemala. Though only about 18 months long, the partnership has been a blessing to GCE, the people of Chicoz and Chirammos and Mission Community Church.

One of the foci of the partnership has been women.  As a result, the Women's Ministry at Mission has sent two teams to Chicoz and Chirammos to build relationships with the women of these two villages, learn from each other and encourage each other.  One of the results of this growing friendship between the women of Mission and the CHE women has been a sewing project in Chirammos.

The women of Chirammos shared their desire to support their families through small businesses ventures.  Sewing clothing was something they had the skills for - but they lacked the capital to purchase high quality machines.  This is where the women at Mission came in.  They were able to raise enough money to purchase some machines for the women in Chirammos - and soon the sewing machines were being used and God has blessed.  Additional sewing machines are now on their way, and we are looking forward to seeing this project grow and expand.

The video below - though in Spanish and Quiche (the local language) show the CHE women in Chirammos working on their sewing projects.  What a blessing that has come as the result of a new partnership.

Meso-America February 2013 Update

Mexico

Pastor Jacob Sotelo—our Mexico Area Coordinator-- has happily shared how just recently the very first CHE Committee was formed on the Tarahumara Range of Mountains at the village of “Cieneguita de la Barranca”.  The CHE Team of Trainers from the partnership Tarahumara Hospital/Mexico Medical Mission & Global CHE Enterprises are beginning to see the long prayed for goal accomplished from the work of their hands and feet approaching the second phase of CHE implementation: The Training Phase.

Having completed the Entering the Community Phase after a couple of years of challenging work among this isolated culture for decades exposed to harmful relief now the Light through CHE has come to the Tarahumara.

Far left Trainer Dr. Josefa DDS. Then Yolanda, Rosa y Veronica. Rosendo (Chendo), Jose Manuel (Chunel), Pablo.  Pastor Jacob, Area Coordinator at the right in lower row.

Below, you can see the River Crossing Story played by the participants recently trained on TOT1 at Rancho La Paloma, Tecate, Baja. 45 Pastors and church leaders from Mexico and the USA were led to begin their journey in CHE ministry.

(Doing things for people who can do for themselves will hurt them more than help them= Relief, above)

(Doing with them or equipping them to do for themselves will transform and develop people to depend on God).

Pastor Jacob andRaquel plus Ellie andEnrique Lugo did train this bold and obedient group of new Trainers now equipped to multiply light and truth through Community Health Evangelism.

Nicaragua

From Nicaragua we received the testimony sent by the FIEMCA CHE Team/GCE about a very precious volunteer CHE Woman Master Trainer Fatima.

Fatima has become a role model among the CHE Mesoamerica Region. She has trained many other ladies with the physical and spiritual lessons which have transformed her own family. Now Fatima is waiting patiently to enjoy the very first house from the partnership of 1Mission & FIEMCA/GCE as the CHE women voted for her to be awarded for her unconditional service to the whole community of El Limonal. Pray that many other CHE Women and families will be rewarded with a decent house too as God’s Provision will be  forwarded to them also.

Guatemala

Reconstruction continues and grows!  The post earthquake effects been taken care of.

Trying to get the Mam people smiling for pictures is as tough as having to unload their donated materials to raise their walls again. Here at the CHE village of el Tizate also some of the families whose homes were destroyed or severely damaged continue to receive a thrust through you and the CHEs. They will do the labor themselves.
                            Santos Mendez Family (above)
                            Miguel Escobar Family (above)

                                The Reyes Family  (above)
CHEs Lining up to serve, not to get help.

The local CHE volunteers always making themselves available to put their hands to serve their neighbors.

Trusting in your ongoing  prayer and involvement with all of us in GCE and the Mesoamerica Region to see the needed lives coming  closer and closer to enjoy the Abundant Life in Jesus Christ as you and us already enjoy it.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of GCE and the Mesoamerica CHE Region field servants ,
Hugo and Miriam Gomez.
